Experiment 1 Final Submission

The two clients for this experiment were Banksy and David Malangi with keywords being Culture and Earth respectively. In creating the two studio spaces, the type of artist was considered. Banksy, being an anonymous graffiti artist Banksy's studio space would have a labyrinth feel to it with metal stairs running between the walls to access the canvas space, which for Banksy are walls. The openings to Banksy's staircases are also tucked away in areas the general public would not access. To further enhance Banksy's anonymity frosted glass is used within the exhibition space and for his studio so that visitors are aware of Banksy's presence. This also serves as a metaphor for culture - a culture that is curious, anonymous and is open for interpretation.

A burrow like clay structure leads the visitors to a more intimate exhibition space for Malangi. Malangi who is a well respected Indigenous painter deserves a studio space which reflects his Indigenous Roots - a space embedded and rooted within the Earth. The staircase leading down to Malangi's studio also has the concept of the elements of earth; with an intention of water running down along the side of the stairs over rocks.
